Remco Evenepoel picks up the competition thread again after his retirement in the Tour of Italy. His pink dream was punctured by a corona infection.
In the meantime, the world champion has received the green light to race again. He’ll be back in action in a week.
Evenepoel does that in the Tour of Switzerland. The stage race starts and ends with a time trial. In between, the usual climbing rides in the Alps are on the menu.
Last year, Evenepoel was also part of the Tour de Suisse. He won the final time trial and was second in the young rider classification.
After Switzerland, Evenepoel will focus on the national championships: the BC time trial (June 22) and the BC road race (June 25).
The Tour of Switzerland will be a highlight for Belgian cycling fans. In addition to Remco Evenepoel, Tim Merlier and Wout van Aert will also be in action.
The latter is preparing in Switzerland for the Tour de France. Evenepoel will not drive that race yet.
