Pep Guardiola Takes a Well-Deserved Vacation in Egypt after Champions League Triumph

Two weeks after winning the Champions League with Manchester City, the third in his coaching career after the coronations with Barça (2009, 2011), Pep Guardiola set sail for Egypt.

The Spanish technician went to the land of the Pharaohs. Not to join a local club or take the reins of the selection, but for the holidays. After an XXL season marked by an incredible hat-trick with the Skyblues, the Iberian strategist set foot at Cairo International Airport on Thursday evening with his family, reports the Egyptian daily Al-Masri al-youm. The Guardiolas were greeted by Nisreen Othmanli, Director of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board (OEPT), and members of the board.

A welcome of pharaohs for Pep and the Guardiola

On Friday morning, Pep and his relatives visited the pyramids of Giza. A visit marked by a lunch with the members of the OEPT, at the luxury hotel Mena House, with a breathtaking view of the Pyramids. As shown in a photo published on the Web, the former Bayern Munich coach then received a copy of King Tutankhamun’s mask as a souvenir gift from Ahmed Ali and Narmin Hanafi, respectively director general of the foreign affairs offices and Director General of the General Department of Tourism Relations of the OEPT.

The visit of the star coach and his loved ones will be followed by a Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan and will end with a visit to the temple of Abu Simbel in Aswan. According to information from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism, Pep and his family will spend a week. A deserved comfort after the effort.
