Paraguay Shines at World Games of Special Olympics with 44 Medals

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Paraguayan representation in the World Games of Special Olympics in Berlin adds to date 44 medals in the official medal table, fulfilling an outstanding job.

Currently, the counter reaches 16 gold, 15 silver and 13 bronze medals.

In yesterday’s session, the gold medals for Bocce were added in the Unified Quartet category, which reached first place without any defeat. In the same discipline, Oscar Ocampos and Pablo Cantero finished with the silver in the masculine duet and Zulma Montiel and Andrea Cubas the same position in the feminine.

For its part, the swimming quartet made up of Dahiana Torres, Gustavo Agüero, Carolina Pita and Ricardo López won the Bronze Medal in the 4×50 Backstroke Relay event, achieving a time of 03’05″82 and climbing to the third step the world podium.

On the skating rink, Valentino Trivellini and Sión Pérez climbed to the podium with gold and bronze, respectively. Tennis was another discipline in which Paraguay added bronze medals for Leidy Medina and Diego Olmedo in singles.

For this Sunday, new medals were added in Badminton, with the two silver medals for Thanya Ghermann and Mario García in women’s and men’s singles, while the 3×3 Basketball team of María Merlo, Ivanna Ríos and Luciana Pintos climbed to the podium for the bronze.
