Ostapenko does not take the court in the semi-finals of the Eastbourne doubles tournament due to dizziness

Ostapenko and Kichenok were supposed to meet the American Nicole Melikar-Martinez and the Australian Elena Perez in the semi-finals. According to the organizers of the tournament, the Latvian and Ukrainian duo did not play the match due to Ostapenko’s dizziness.

Reaching the semifinals earned 185 WTA doubles ranking points.

In the first round, Ostapenko and Kichenok won 6-3, 6-4 against Japan’s Mia Kato and Indonesia’s Aldila Sujiadi, and in the quarter-finals they beat Daria Seville from Australia and Gabriela Dabrowski from Canada, who is Ostapenko’s partner, 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 former spouse.

The Latvian tennis player also competed in the singles tournament in Eastbourne, in which, meeting with the Italian Camila Giorgi in the quarterfinals, the Latvian tennis player decided to withdraw from the tournament after losing the first set in the tiebreak. Before the tiebreak at 6-6, Ostapenko requested a medical timeout due to feeling unwell.

The Eastbourne tournament for female tennis players is the last competition before the third “Grand Slam” tournament of the season – the Wimbledon championship – which is expected in the first half of July.
