Officially: There is a statement from PZPN about Marciniak Football

The Everest conference was an event during which successful people from all over Poland spoke. At the last moment, however, some of the speakers decided to withdraw due to the controversial Sławomir Mentzen. The Polish judge confirmed his participation on May 28, just before the event, which took place on May 29.

PZPN defends Marciniak. Unsubstantiated accusations

Western media began to write about Szymon Marciniak’s participation in the Everest conference. They indicate that a Polish judge took part in an event organized by a far-right politician. The PZPN, which published a statement on its website, stood up for the arbitrator.

“Szymon Marciniak has provided PZPN with extensive explanations of the situation. They show that he does not know Sławomir Mentzen and has never spoken to him. After talking to the arbitrator and familiarizing himself with the collected evidence, PZPN rejects any accusations against Szymon Marciniak” – we read .

“In the case of this type of accusation, such as those directed at Szymon Marciniak, objectivity and presentation of the arguments of each side are always required. In this case, there was no such thing and Marciniak was unjustly accused, he was not given the opportunity to explain and defend himself,” the federation points out.

PZPN also appealed to UEFA, which will decide whether the Polish referee will be the referee of the Champions League final. According to the latest rumors, it’s almost certain that it won’t. “The Polish Football Association and our referees are apolitical. We hope that UEFA will take into account the obvious facts we have quoted above in making its decision” – concluded.

The government is on Marciniak’s side

The Minister of Sport and Tourism Kamil Bortniczuk also commented on the whole matter. He announced that he would apply to UEFA with support for the Polish referee, and called the “Never Again” organization’s application a great manipulation.

“I am in contact with referee Szymon Marciniak. The case of the denunciation is a great manipulation. Tomorrow morning we will address UEFA with a position supporting referee Marciniak,” reads the ministry’s statement.

On Friday, UEFA will announce the final decision regarding the Polish referee.
