NFL: Two Cleveland Browns players robbed at gunpoint

Two Cleveland Browns players, cornerback Greg Newsome II and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey, were robbed at gunpoint by six masked men according to a police report.

The police did not identify the two players in their report, but a source close to the team confirmed who the two players were. Fortunately, none of them were injured in the incident.

According to Cleveland police, the two players left a nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning. Arriving at Newsome’s truck in a parking lot not far from the facility, six masked men jumped out of an unidentified car and pointed guns at the two Browns players before grabbing jewelry and fleeing with Newsome’s vehicle. Police are still trying to locate the stolen vehicle.

Newsome referenced the incident Monday night on Twitter, writing, “We live in a cruel world.”

He’s not the only Browns player to have had his car stolen in the last few days. Another source confirmed to ESPN that running back Demetric Felton was also the victim of a car theft from his apartment garage.

Cleveland begins its mandatory mini training camp on Tuesday.
