New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones is in trouble after being arrested in possession of two firearms at an airport.
Last week, the 25-year-old was charged with possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport, possession of ammunition without a firearms license, unlawful possession of a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm.
If found guilty on all these counts, the footballer could face a prison sentence of around 30 years. In his last appearance in court, Jones pleaded not guilty.
“We have been made aware of the arrest of Jack Jones at Logan International Airport in Boston. We are currently seeking more information and we will not comment further on the situation for the moment, ”reacted the Patriots organization at the time of the arrest of its player.
Football-wise, Jones’ alleged crimes could hurt the Pats. The one who was to play his second season in the NFL in 2023 seemed on the verge of becoming an important cog in the club’s defense.
In 13 games last year, he had two interceptions, caused a fumble and scored a touchdown. Jones, however, was forced to miss two games because the team suspended him for concealing an injury.
The California native was selected by the Patriots in the fourth round (121st overall) during the 2022 draft. According to several experts, Jones would have been chosen much sooner if he had not already been in trouble with the law .
In 2018, he was arrested and charged with burglary, an offense to which he pleaded guilty and served 45 days of house arrest.
