New York Jets star quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he has never had so much fun playing football since being traded to the team last April.

“The past six weeks have been the most fun I’ve had in a long time. It’s a pleasure to come to work and be excited about what we’re doing,” Rodgers said Friday after practice.

The pivot also praised the work of his team’s coaching staff, which is led by Robert Saleh.

“We have a great quarterback group. It’s great to be able to work with Todd Downing (passing play coordinator) and Rob Calabrese (quarterbacks coach) as well as Nathaniel Hackett (offensive coordinator),” said No. 12.

The California native also had good words for the one from whom he took the number 1 quarterback position, Zach Wilson.

“He is incredible. He doesn’t make my life hell every day,” Rodgers joked to the media.

Promising players

The veteran says he is very happy to be able to work with promising players within the organization of the Big Apple.

“We will at some point have maybe the best cornerback and the best receiver in the NFL. I think that’s a real possibility for these guys,” Rodgers said, referring to Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson.

Gardner appeared in the Pro Bowl game in his rookie season in addition to being named to the All-Rookie Team as well as the NFL’s Most Valuable Squad in 2022. Wilson has also been on the roster for rookie stars.

Rodgers spent the first 18 seasons of his career in a Green Bay Packers uniform. Last season, the veteran quarterback had 26 touchdown passes and rushed for 3,695 yards.
