Miguel Cabrera’s Lucrative and Healthy MLB Career

By Danny Bolivar

Venezuelan Miguel Cabrera enjoys a prestigious career of more than 20 years on the Major League Baseball diamond, remaining healthy for much of it.

During his stay in the Major Leagues, “El Tigre Mayor” has received just over 400 million dollars for wearing the jersey of both the Florida Marlins (2003-2007) and the Detroit Tigers (2008-2023).

After 21 years, it could be said that his career in MLB has been quite healthy if you compare the 2,739 games played, with just 172 duels that he was on the disabled list.

The math is simple, in 2,567 games played he received $380,873,042. If we compare both figures, amount of play and salary obtained, we can say that Miguel Cabrera’s career in MLB has been quite healthy and leaving his organization in the green with a more than profitable contract.

Miguel Cabrera has enjoyed a formidable career

Let’s go a little further, of those 172 games that he watched from the bench are divided into four visits to the disabled list, all in 2018. First, due to a hamstring injury, he missed 29 games and earned $4.7 million, then he returned to being absent for another 111 games on the schedule which translates to $17.9 million.

Later, due to a relapse in this last injury, he was out for 15 and 17 games, where he earned $2.4 and $2.9 million.
