Marie Bouzková finished in Eastbourne

Marie Bouzková entered the duel against the thirteenth ranked player in the world Haddad Mai from Brazil. In the fourth game, she won her serve with a clean game and took the set to the winning end without any problems.

When the Brazilian lost her serve at the start of the second set, it seemed that the Czech was on her way to the first win over Haddad Mai in her career. By the end of the set, however, she lost her serve herself, losing it 3:6, and it was clear that the drama would continue.

The third act offered a balanced spectacle, with the players holding serve. Therefore, the winner had to be decided by a shortened game. There, the strongly playing Brazilian had the upper hand and won the third mutual match in her career over Bouzková.

Petra Kvitová withdrew from the tournament at the last minute. The tournament organizers published the information. “I’m sorry that I have to withdraw and I won’t have a chance to defend the title. Eastbourne is one of my favorite stops on the circuit,” said the 33-year-old Kvitová, who won the tournament in Berlin on Sunday.

The two-time Wimbledon champion in the spider was replaced by Barbora Strýcová. The 37-year-old Czech, who returned after a maternity break and is saying goodbye to her career this year, unfortunately could not rely on her serve against Jelena Ostapenko and did not even play a set.

At the same time, she entered the match brilliantly and took the lead 3:1. However, from that point on, she only held serve once in the rest of the match. In the last game, she first averted 3 match points and got to two break points herself. However, she did not use them and the Latvian did not hesitate with her fourth match point.

Before Tuesday’s 1st round duel, Barbora Krejčíková also apologized to the organizers due to fatigue, who played the singles and doubles finals on grass in Birmingham on Sunday and won the doubles trophy. Even Vondroušová did not participate in the planned duel with Uns Džábirová from Tunisia. All Czech female tennis players withdrew due to fatigue. So they should play at Wimbledon and amply compensate the poor Czech fans for this poor tennis week.

Eighteen-year-old tennis player Linda Nosková did not advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament in Bad Homburg. After two hours and 39 minutes, she lost to the second seed Lyudmila Samsonova from Russia 4:6, 7:6, 3:6. Twenty-four-year-old Samsonova can challenge Kateřina Siniaková in the fight for the semi-finals, who will face another Russian, Yevgenija Rodinová, on Wednesday.

The 45th player in the world, Nosková, who defeated the Ukrainian Kateryna Baindlova in the opening round, did not add the second win in her career on grass. Samsonová helped herself to sixteen aces in the first match between them. Nosková initially kept pace with the world number 15, but in the fourth game she did not use three break points and subsequently lost her serve. Samsonova served four aces and won the first set after 51 minutes.

The Russian tennis player also started the second set well. In the third game, she got a break and took the lead. The finalist of this year’s tournament in Adelaide, Nosková, however, turned the tide thanks to three consecutive game wins. Samsonová still forced a tie break, which the Czech Republic won 7:4. Also in the deciding set, Samsonová was the first to break her opponent’s serve. Although Nosková reduced it to 3:4 in the seventh game, the Russian countered again with a break and closed the duel on service with a clean game.

In the quarter-finals is Varvara Gračová, who is newly representing France. The 22-year-old native of Moscow defeated the Italian Sara Errani 6:2, 7:5. The 43rd player in the world applied for French citizenship at the end of March. Under the new flag, he can also play in Wimbledon in July.
