The Élites de Jonquière, in the U18 AAA, today announced major changes to their leadership. Michel Simard, President and Governor, passes the torch after 18 years of involvement in the organization. The Elites have named Sylvain St-Pierre as their new president, and Mario Julien as their new governor.
Michel Simard, who leaves office with a sense of accomplishment, leaves behind a strong legacy. Under his leadership, the Elites experienced a financial turnaround and also won the Team of the Year award.
In addition, the creation of the Junior Elites has had an incredible impact in the development of young people, also strengthening the feeling of belonging of young people to the team.
“But what I’m most proud of is having sought out and hosting the Midget AAA Challenge in Saguenay for four years. This project required a lot of work. And I believe that we have set the bar very high for all those who will organize the event in the future”, indicates Michel Simard.

Sylvain St-Pierre, the new president of the Élites de Jonquière, is already well known in Saguenay. Already occupying the position of president of the Voyageurs de Jonquière in baseball, he arrives at the Elites with excellent experience as a manager.
“It’s a prestigious position and as a guy from Jonquière, it’s an honor and a great pride to take on the presidency of the Élites de Jonquière,” he said.
The latter will bring his own philosophy and his well-established management model to the Elites. Thus, changes are already to be expected.

However, it is important to note that the current coaching staff will remain unchanged at the start of the season, in order to maintain stability and continuity. Head coach Arnaud Dubé and general manager Simon Tremblay remain in place.
Another important issue that will require work is that of parental interference.
“We will meet with the parents and a strict code of conduct will be put in place. It is out of the question for parents to speak with coaches to influence their decisions. We must protect our world and the code of conduct will be there for that. »
New Governor
Regarding the new governor, Mario Julien brings his experience in the world of education, being director of studies at Cégep de Jonquière. He will emphasize the importance of studies for Elite players, ensuring that they benefit from adequate supervision.
Mario Julien also has a history with the Elites, having already acted during the 1993-94 season as the team’s assistant coach.
