Lucas Coenen (16) beats Liam Everts in 1st heat of GP MX2 of Germany | Motocross

No less than four Belgians managed to settle in the top 13. The 16-year-old Lucas Coenen took the second series victory of his career.

“It’s a very technical track, where you can’t afford any mistakes. I rode my cross without caring too much about what was happening behind me. It was fun and I was able to keep my rhythm,” said the Brussels native on the Husqvarna.

Liam Everts (KTM) took second. Sacha Coenen (KTM), the twin brother of Lucas, finished tenth, while Jago Geerts (Yamaha) ended in thirteenth place. The Italian Andrea Adamo (KTM), who finished third, will temporarily take over the World Championship lead from the Dutchman Kay de Wolf.

Jago Geerts, now fourth in the MX2 world championship, is making his comeback after suffering a broken wrist in the qualifying race for the French Grand Prix on May 20.

Geerts, then leader in the world championship, ultimately missed two matches. On Friday he received medical clearance to resume competition. The second moto is scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
