Who does not know the Czech representative in biathlon, who scored several times at the World Championships or the Olympic Games. She even brought home a bronze medal from Sochi. However, in 2017, she ended her career and changed her life from the ground up.
Jitka Landová was born in 1990 in Jablonec nad Nisou and loved sports from an early age. Together with another biathlon star, Gabriela Soukalová, she attended a sports gymnasium and they became great friends.
They knew a lot about each other and even shared rooms from 2012 to 2016 during the World Cups they both had to attend. Landová even knew about Soukalová’s problems with food intake, but she was not allowed to tell anyone.

“Gabča always only ate breakfast, but she no longer took any snacks. Sure, you have lunch, but you’re hungry after it, and you’re hungry before your workout, and you should get something to eat. And Gabča didn’t have anything with her,” Landová revealed to idnes.cz. Landová tried to stuff nuts, chocolate, dried fruit into her friend, but she had no idea that Gábina would vomit everything afterwards.
During those four years, they experienced successes and failures together. In 2014, they fought for the crystal globe for the first place in the World Cup of the women’s relay team. In 2017, Soukalová felt emotional when Landová ended her career. She also had health problems, she began to suffer from fatigue syndrome.
He teaches English and physical education at the elementary level
After the end of her biathlon career, Landová embarked on a completely different life path. She started teaching English and physical education in elementary school.
“In addition to teaching, I went to train teenagers twice a week, but not since autumn. I was wrung out of it. Coaching does not appeal to me as a job. I like my job and I hope to stay at it for a long time,” revealed Landová.
