Teun Koopmeiners had a wonderful evening at Atalanta on Sunday. He gave his club a hat-trick – his third goal was a world goal – a big win and thus fifth place in Serie A, good for a Europa League ticket. AS Roma also enters the Europa League, while Juventus has to make do with the Conference League.
Atalanta was already leading 2-0 at home against AC Monza at halftime thanks to goals from Koopmeiners. In the second half, Andrea Colpani did something back, after which Rasmus Højlund made it 3-1 on the instructions of star Koopmeiners.
Then it was up to Koopmeiners himself, who scored an incredible goal. The Orange-international got the ball a little over the center line at the sideline, saw the keeper standing in front of his goal and shot sublimely.
Koopmeiners increased his number of competition hits to ten. The former captain of AZ did not have the last word, because Andrea Petagna signed on behalf of Monza for the 5-2 final score.
With the win, Atalanta secured fifth place. Fifth and sixth place in Italy entitles to the Europa League. The number seven enters the Conference League.

AS Roma and Mourinho escape
AS Roma seemed to give up sixth position due to a disappointing draw against Spezia. A striking penalty from Paulo Dybala (2-1) ensured that the losing Europa League finalist will play in the Europa League again next season. Georginio Wijnaldum came in for Roma.
Conference League football remains for Juventus. Thanks to Federico Chiesa, ‘De Oude Dame’ won 0-1 at Udinese, but that turned out to be worthless due to Dybala’s late goal. Juve, which received a points penalty this season for financial fraud, has played continuously in the Champions League since the 2012/2013 season.
The battle for the top four and thus qualification for the Champions League was already decided. Champion Napoli, Lazio, Internazionale and AC Milan seized the tickets for the ball of millions.
Milan won 3-1 against Hellas Verona thanks to Olivier Giroud (penalty) and Rafael Leão (two goals). The game was marked by the farewell of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who did not participate, but was waved goodbye. It led to tears for the 41-year-old Swede, who ended his career later in the evening.
