Juve leaves the Super League and Madrid and Barça are left alone

Juventus will abandon the European Super League project with which two years ago, along with Real Madrid and Barcelona, they challenged UEFA. The Italian club has sent a letter to Madrid and Barça in which it communicates to both entities its desire to disassociate itself from the Super League after the highest continental body has threatened Juventus with its exclusion from European competitions for five years. Juve, after being sanctioned with the loss of 10 points in Serie A, in which they finished in seventh position, has qualified to play the Conference League next season.

Florentino Pérez, the main promoter of the Super League against the UEFA Champions League, and Joan Laporta, who joined the initiative before the culé club was shaken by the ‘Negreira case’ that has also clouded relations between the leader Madrid and Catalan, are therefore left alone in the war against UEFA. After Barça also risks being excluded from Europe due to the club’s millionaire payments to the former vice-president of the referees, Laporta has recently carried out a rapprochement with the president of UEFA, Aleksander Ceferin, to try to ensure that Barcelona is not sportively sanctioned for the ‘Negreira case’, so the culé entity could also leave the Super League.

In the month of January it was Juventus who, with the change of its board of directors, approached UEFA, which is considering sanctioning the Turin club for the ‘capital gains case’ that this season has left the black and white team out of the Champions League and has relegated him to the third continental competition. To avoid being left out of the Conference and all the continental tournaments for five years, Juventus has decided to forget about the controversial Super League.

The general director of Juventus, Maurizio Scanavino, states in the letter sent to Madrid and Barça that UEFA’s intention is to harshly punish the club as a result of the scandals in which the Vecchia Signora has been involved in recent years . The Super League project is still pending the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union on its feasibility or not, which has been delayed, since it was expected for the month of May and now it may not be made public until July, without ruled out even September.
