Julio Horrego once again brought out the caste for Honduras by once again getting a medal for our country in the Central American and Caribbean Games that are held in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The 25-year-old swimmer climbed to the podium after taking bronze in the final A of the 50-meter breaststroke, the test in which he specializes, achieving a time of 27.86 seconds, 35 hundredths of a second behind Mikel Shreuders from Aruba and Miguel De Lara from Mexico, who broke the competition record.

On Sunday, Horrego himself was in charge of hanging the only medal that Honduras had held to date, also being a bronze in the 100-meter breaststroke test.

Horrego, an Olympian in Tokyo 2021, is the only athlete who has given medals to the five-star delegation that was close to achieving another third place in the mixed relay event.

Julio Horrego continues to shine at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Gabriel Martínez, Julimar Ávila, Michell Ramírez and Horrego participated in the 4×100, finishing in fourth position with a time of 3:39.95s, three seconds less than the last place on the podium (Venzuela, then Colombia) and 8:83 seconds behind the gold which was in record time for Mexico.

Previously, Diego Dilieu, also a Honduran, competed in the final A of the 400-meter freestyle where he placed sixth after a time of 4:04.37 (+11.46), more than four seconds behind bronze.
