Judokas Prisca Awiti, Paulina Martínez, and Sergio del Sol prepare for Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador

San Salvador, El Salvador. June 23, 2023. The judokas, Prisca Awiti, Paulina Martínez and Sergio del Sol arrived on Salvadoran soil and are already preparing their participation in the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023.

The first to go into action will be Paulina Martínez, who this Saturday will compete in the test of less than 62 kg. She lived a process with two qualifiers in which she was crowned in the first and was runner-up in the second, as well as champion of America in her category last year.

“I am very excited, I am calm, I think I have channeled my nerves well. These are my first Games and I have very high expectations, both for myself and for Guanajuato. I am with all the courage, the concentration of being able to be here, ”she said.

For her part, Prisca Awiti will compete on Sunday in the less than 63 kg category. The Guanajuatense recently obtained a fifth place in the World Cup, as well as a bronze in the Grand Prix.

“We all come with our minds set on gold, but I can only do my best. That has allowed me to give the best results of my life. I will do the same again and I hope that it will be enough for me to win the gold”, emphasized Prisca Awiti Alcaraz.

Finally, Sergio del Sol will take part in the category of more than 100 kg on Monday the 26th.

“From what I saw in the ranking, I expect two very good fights, one with the Dominican, and winning that one, with the Cuban in the final. I hope to give a very good performance, to be satisfied with myself”, explained Del Sol.

Debut Centroamericano

On the other hand, the swimmer Karen Rodríguez, will compete in the 400m freestyle test on the same Saturday, where she will live her debut in the Central American and Caribbean Games.

On Monday he will do the same in the 4x200m freestyle relay and on Tuesday he will have his main test, the 400m individual medley.

“This was one of my biggest dreams as an athlete, to represent Mexico in a competition of this type. I feel very strong, very motivated, I feel that I am going to grow a lot mentally. I don’t want to set a limit, I want to surprise myself and win individual and relay medals”, Karen said.
