Judo Triumphs: Venezuelan Delegation Strikes Gold at Central American and Caribbean Games

Judo was the great winner this Saturday for the Venezuelan delegation by winning the first gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023.

The person in charge of this feat was the judoka Iván Salas, who showed his qualities in the 60 kg category.

Salas managed to reach the final of the competition after defeating Sebastián Cocho from Costa Rica in an intense match.

The native managed to be crowned in the final of his category after defeating the Jamaican Ashley Mckenzie.

Two female bronzes

The Venezuelan judokas Fabiola Díaz and María Jiménez also managed to add two bronzes to the Venezuelan medal table..

The athletes participated in the -52 Kg and -48 Kg categories respectively and finished in third place after falling in the semifinals.

Venezuela currently ranks fifth in the medal table with one gold, eight silver and six bronze medals for a total of 15 medals.
