JUDO – The regional grouping of Judo Para Adapté has made many people happy

Sens Martial Arts organized the regional grouping of Judo Para Adapté on Thursday, June 1st at the Dojo Emile Bonabot. After a demonstration by the guests of honour, in particular Marc Verillotte, a presentation of medals following the tournament and diplomas were given to the participants.

Para judo was in the spotlight this Thursday 1is June at Dojo Emile Bonabot during a regional activity. Participants from specialized structures had gladly returned to the section in 2022, saved by the Sens Martial Arts club after the health crisis. All were able to express their know-how on the tatami, facing with great enthusiasm the students of the judo class of the Montpezat college as well as great champions of the environment, Marc Verillotte, 6th Dan, winner of the Paris Grand Slam and former elite operator within the RAID, or Kheiredine Ochando, French and European champion of Jujitsu Ne Waza. The event again highlighted the fundamental principles of judo, in particular respect and honor, values ​​dear to the organizers of this group, Robert Tolet, president of Sens Martial Arts, Alain Simonnet, president of Sens Martial Arts / Judo Section, and Thierry Goblet, head of the Para Adapted Judo section.

Other judo personalities came to support the event. Paul Goumillou, judo and then kick boxing champion had brought out the kimono for the occasion. “The common point of this day with friends is to have one day crossed the path of Marc who is exceptional by his career, by his generosity, by his loyalty in friendship” confides, Jean-Marie Lagerbe, former member of the French Judo teams, 6th dan black belt and Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Judoka for 36 years and top athlete (world championship in 2008), Adrien Pin took part in this day out of friendship. He had met Marc Verillotte in the world of the police at the end of the 90s, and Thierry Goblet, at the police school in Sens in 2012. He also wanted to share his experience, in particular with idols such as David Douillet, and “bring all these little stars that we can also bring to the children”.

Para judo judokas were rewarded for their performance with medals following the tournament and participation diplomas. After a long exchange with Marc Verillotte during which everyone was able to ask him questions about his career within the Raid and as a judoka, the participants offered the assembly a beautiful choreography on the title Light the fire by Johnny Halliday. Everyone was then invited to a tea party in order to end the day as it had started, in conviviality.
