Judo-club in Quillan: look back on a season marked by many victories

Wednesday, May 31, a small reception was held at the town hall in honor of the young medalists of the Judo Club Quillan who have shone this season.

With its 120 licensees, the club, whose good vitality is undeniable, has, in fact, worn the colors of Quillan in recent competitions. The judokas present at the reception were congratulated by Pierre Castel: “Thank you and congratulations to these champions who have distinguished themselves on the tatami mats of Occitanie and France, with results that put the Quillanais club in the spotlight. Sport is essential in life and judo provides you with a framework that will be useful in the future”.

On April 23, 3 youngest were qualified in the Occitanie region, each obtaining a podium, including Lola Roca, champion with 1st place, Quentin Talut and Benoît Poursel both in 3rd place. Mathis Montanel meanwhile climbed onto the podium in 3rd place during the Occitanie Cup for the French championships which took place on March 26 in Villebon-sur-Yvette in Essonne. The Judo Club Quillan also participated with Andorrans, Spaniards and Portuguese in the international tournament of Andorra on May 7th. Maxence Montanel won 2nd place chick, Lola Roca and Benoît Poursel 2nd place, Quentin Talut 3rd place all three as youngest and Lucas Chourreau obtained 2nd place in minimal. JDC technical manager Daniel Campayo, proud of the prowess of these students, said: “The club can be proud of having obtained 7 podiums at the national level over the years, thanks to our educators, all of whom are state graduates”.

Before meeting around a glass of friendship, Gilles Alard, deputy in charge of associations and sports, concluded this pleasant ceremony: “I admire these young athletes and I encourage them to pursue their goals. They wear the colors of Quillan far and bring a great reputation to the city of 3 bowling”.
