Jahl achieves bronze in Taekwondo

Marlene Jahl from Upper Austria won the bronze medal in the 73 kg class in the Taekwondo competitions at the European Games in Poland. The 28-year-old started in Krynica-Zdroj with a 2-0 win over Cypriot Sofia Antoniou, followed by a 2-0 defeat by Aleksandra Kowalczuk.

Since the Pole then marched through to the final, Jahl was given a second chance in the repechage round and used it with a 2-0 win over the Ukrainian Renata Podoljan.

Tenth ÖOC medal within reach

For the tenth Austrian medal in these title fights, after four gold and bronze medals and one silver medal, last year’s third place at the World Championships is up against Solene Avoulete from France in the evening.

On Sunday, Aleksandar Radojkovic, Austria’s male representative in this martial art with Olympic ambitions, also reached the repechage round, but lost there.
