Cheers to the NBA draft “Prodigy” is considered the new LeBron

Your Ludwigsburg opponent Yorman Bartolo tried to stop you with extreme force. Her trainer was angry and talked about wrestling. Do you share his anger?

Ludwigsburg and especially Bartolo are known for playing very physically. This is her identity. But that’s not a problem for me. It’s always tough in the playoffs. You have to reckon with everything. I keep playing my game.

Is there trash talk?

Definitive. But that only shows the respect your opponent has for you.

Her mother Darlene was there when she won the Champions League in Malaga. Will you also come to the hot final in the BBL?

I really hope she can come when we reach the final. She is extremely important to me. But in California, too, she watches every game I play, even if it’s six in the morning for her. Afterwards we call and she tells me what I can do even better. She is my biggest critic.

You didn’t get a university scholarship in the USA because you were considered too small. Now you are MVP in the BBL and the Champions League. How great is the satisfaction?

I used to be underestimated. That’s why I worked all the harder. But I don’t feel any satisfaction. Then I would get complacent. I’m the type of player who is never satisfied. I know I can still get better.

Your contract in Bonn is about to expire. How many offers from other clubs do you already have?

I’ll deal with that after the season. At the moment only Bonn counts. I love the club, the city, the people. That’s why I enjoy my time here.
