“Again, congratulations!” said Jokowi.

Men’s singles badminton player Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo secured the first title for Indonesia in the 2023 Taipei Open.

Chico’s Key to Success

PBSI Pelatnas Men’s Singles Coach Assistant Harry Hartono said the key to Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo’s success in winning the Taipei Open 2023 could not be separated from the ability of his team to maintain stamina since the start of the tournament.

“The key to Chico’s victory is a team that always supports him. So that Chico’s performance and fitness can be maintained until the final,” Harry said through official PP PBSI information in Jakarta, Sunday.

During his appearance in Taipei, Harry considered Chico to have excellent calm and self-confidence. Even the graph of the performance assessment of the badminton player from Jayapura, Papua, always experiences an increase in each round.

“If you look at it from the early rounds to the final, the graphs keep going up so you can carry out the coach’s strategy and have the courage to make decisions on the field,” said Harry.

Not only that, Harry also guided Chico to remember the results of evaluations from previous tournaments, especially on aspects of game patterns and strategies.

From the last three tournaments, Chico’s performance was considered not too bad, it’s just that there were still small mistakes and lack of courage in the final points.

Likewise from the mental side of the players, Harry also reminded Chico to always have motivation in every tournament he participates in.

“And on the positive side, there should be more motivation to play better in Taipei and take the championship title. The results in Taipei, Chico can win. The proof is that he learned from the previous evaluation,” said Harry.

When he appeared in Taipei, Chico really enjoyed the matches he played, and always had the courage to make decisions.

“I see that Chico takes care of his mentality and mind more so that his confidence and composure can be well controlled. Because from practice, his preparation is good and optimal,” said Harry.

The title won by Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo is the only one won by Indonesia. Another representative, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, failed to win the title after being defeated by South Korean women’s doubles Lee Yu Lim/Shin Seung in the final round.
