FIBA has announced the FIBA Hall of Fame class of 2023.
The nominees will be presented at a prestigious ceremony held in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines before the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, and a total of ten players and two coaches will be honored for their contributions to basketball. The event will take place on the evening of August 23, after the FIBA Congress has ended.
Among the most popular candidates are Yao Ming from China and Wlamir Marques from Brazil. Ming shone during his time with China, and especially at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2006, when he finished as the top scorer. He became the first international player to be selected number one in the NBA draft and made history. He went on to become the worldwide face of the sport as an eight-time NBA All-Star.
