(ANSA) – ROME, JUNE 23 – Everything as expected: the Frenchman Victor Wembanyama was the first choice of the San Antonip Spurs in the NBA draft which took place on the Italian night. The Chesnay giant succeeds legends David Robinson and Tim Duncan, both of whom were also drafted first overall by the Texas franchise in 1987 and 1997, respectively.
“I can’t even find the words to describe what I feel – were the first words of the Frenchman – I think it’s the most beautiful evening of my life. It’s a dream come true, it’s incredible”. After the traditional handshake with Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA, the French prodigy wore a cap with the logo of the Texan franchise.
