Andreas Mies missed the doubles final at the French Open alongside Matwe Middelkoop.
The 32-year-old from Cologne lost together with the Dutchman Middelkoop in the semi-finals to the Belgian duo Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen 4: 6, 5: 7 on Thursday (June 8th, 2023).
With his former doubles partner Kevin Krawietz, Mies won the title at the classic clay court in Paris in 2019 and 2020. Krawietz was eliminated in this doubles tournament with mixed winner Tim Pütz in the quarterfinals.
Semi-finals in women’s singles
The finalists in women’s singles will be determined on Thursday on Center Court. Aryna Sabalenka, seeded number 2, meets Karolina Muchova, then surprise semi-finalist Beatriz Haddad Maia challenges defending champion Iga Swiatek.
A highlight of the day from a German point of view was Tim Pütz, who won the mixed title alongside Miyu Kato.
Zverev is fighting for a place in the Roland Garros final on Friday
The men’s semi-finals are scheduled for Friday, including the eagerly awaited duel between Novak Djokovic and Spain’s high-flyer Carlos Alcaraz (from around 3 p.m.). Alexander Zverev, who was seriously injured against Rafael Nadal in the semifinals in Paris last year, will then have a new chance against Caspar Ruud to reach the final of Roland Garros to move in.
