After Sergio Busquets, Lionel Messi will find another known head at Inter Miami. In a statement released on Wednesday, David Beckham’s club announces that Gerardo “Tata” Martino is joining the Florida franchise as technical director.
“We are very happy to welcome Tata to Inter Miami. We believe he is a coach who matches the aspirations of the club and we are optimistic about what we can achieve together”, appreciates Jorge Mas, director and co-owner of the franchise. “Tata has trained at the highest level and we believe that this experience will be very useful to us in our quest for titles,” he added.

“I am very happy to join a great club like Inter Miami and I know that together we can achieve great things”, confirmed sixty-something. The news had fueled the Argentine press in recent weeks. La Pulga and “Tata” Martino know each other well, since the technician supervised him at FC Barcelona, during the 2013-2014 season, then in the Argentine selection, between 2014 and 2016.
“Tata is a highly respected figure in our sport, whose results speak for themselves,” David Beckham said in the statement. The technician has notably participated in two World Cups, and has been a Copa America finalist on three occasions. He already knows the Major Soccer League (MLS) since he was the coach of Atlanta United in 2018. He won the “MLS Cup” that year and won the title of best coach.
