It had been announced for a long time, now it’s official: Jude Bellingham is moving to Real Madrid. Borussia Dortmund will receive a three-digit transfer fee, which can increase significantly over the next six years.
Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of Jude Bellingham. BVB confirmed this on Wednesday afternoon with an ad hoc announcement. The Athletic had previously reported on it. As the sports website wrote, the Spanish top club will pay more than 100 million euros for the 19-year-old England international. However, the contract has not yet been signed. The midfielder is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days.
“Real Madrid will pay BVB a fixed transfer fee of EUR 103.0 million if the transfer is made. In addition, the payment of variable transfer compensation up to a maximum total amount of around 30 percent of the amount of the fixed transfer compensation was agreed,” says the ad hoc release of the listed BVB. “The variable transfer fees are dependent on the achievement of certain sporting achievements by Real Madrid and/or the player’s sporting achievements or performance at Real Madrid over the next six seasons.”
Bellingham switched from English second division club Birmingham to Revierclub in 2020 for around 25 million euros. With good performances, he increased his market value considerably. Even Liverpool FC, which was initially traded as the new Bellingham club, got out of the transfer poker weeks ago in view of the lavish fee.
After Raphael Guerreiro, Mahmoud Dahoud, Luca Unbehaun, Felix Passlack and Anthony Modeste, Bellingham is the sixth departure of the Bundesliga second. The high transfer proceeds for the Englishman will make it easier to find an adequate replacement. “I think that we will reinvest around 60 to 65 percent of the transfer fees that we achieve in this period,” announced managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke recently in the “Bild”.
