He Provincial Basketball Campus in Torrox has had the participation of fifty children of the Torrox Basketball Club. Throughout the week, the young players have had the opportunity to share the field and experiences with the professionals of the Unicaja Salome Garcia Segura y Augusto Lima.
The mayor of Torrox, Oscar Medinaand the Councilor for Sports, Jose Manuel Fernandezvisited the Municipal Sports Pavilion in the sports area of The farm to witness campus activities. The Unicaja players were the stars of the day, interacting with the children and sharing knowledge and anecdotes.
The event was also attended by the Provincial Delegate and Vice President of the Andalusian Basketball Federation, Ricardo Bandres Marinand the president of the Torrox Basketball Club, Jose Manuel Lopez. The mayor thanked the Unicaja players for their involvement in this initiative, highlighting the passion for basketball in the municipality and the close relationship with the professional team.
The Councilor for Sports highlighted the growth of basketball in Torrox, with an increase in the number of federative licenses and the existence of more than a dozen teams in the Torrox Basketball Club. In addition, mention was made of the creation of the basketball school in the morche as one more step to promote sports practice among young people.
Bandrés expressed his gratitude to the City Council and the Department of Sports for their support for basketball, as well as for the Provincial Council of Malaga and to Unicaja for organizing this campus in recent years.
The Provincial Basketball Campus in Torrox was divided into two phases this summer. The first phase focused on the teaching basic technical fundamentals adapted to the age of each group. In the second phase, Unicaja players participated in matches and activities, in addition to sign t-shirts y take pictures with the young participants.
Both Salomé and Augusto expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate in this initiative, highlighting the importance of encourage sports practice from an early age and hoping to be able to participate in the next edition of the campus next year.
