After the Clippers opted not to guarantee his final year on his contract, Eric Gordon has gone on to become one of the names to watch in free agency. As reported by Kelly Iko, a journalist for The Athleticat least six franchises have already shown their desire to take over their services, which suggests that they will be one of the players with the most options to choose their destination.
Specifically, Iko points to the Lakers, Grizzlies, Suns, Bucks, Blazers and Timberwolves as the interested teams, teams that have in common the fact that, although some are closer to achieving it than others, they aspire to be competitive this year. This is not surprising, because at 34 years old, Gordon is a veteran player and trained to be a valuable piece in a good squad, which has generated this enormous bid around him.
After finally leaving Houston during the month of February, Eric averaged 11 points with 42.3% accuracy on three-pointers in his brief stint with the Clippers, who nevertheless chose not to continue counting on him. The decision, however, was more than likely due to economic reasons, since letting him go not only meant they saved their $20.9 million in salary, but another $110 in luxury tax.
