«Discussion started with Barcelona and Real Madrid»

Juventus’ adventure in the Superlega could end before it even begins. According to the Spanish press, in fact, the Juventus club would have sent a letter signed by CEO Maurizio Scanavino to Real Madrid and Barcelona to announce their intention to abandon the project. Letter whose sending was later confirmed by the Juventus club itself.

Juventus out of the Super League?

A real earthquake for the Super League.

Juve had been among the companies promoting the initiative which in 2021 (together with the best 12 clubs in Europe) had upset the horizons of international football, putting UEFA on a war footing. After the change at the top, with the resignation of Andrea Agnelli, the political line has changed; in Italy the club asked for and obtained a plea deal for the second line of sports justice (with a fine and without further penalty points) and also at an international level the front on the Superlega has softened, up to the rumors from Spain that could definitively close the project.

It will take a few weeks to complete the bureaucratic process, meanwhile the Superlega itself is under judgment by the Court of Justice of the European Union which will have to express itself (this summer) on the new competition. It could be the decisive move against UEFA (which has opened an investigation into Juve for violating the FFP) to avert a possible exclusion from the European cups, after qualifying for the Conference League for next season.
