David Corenswet Will Be DC’s New Superman

James Gunn confirms the American actor as Henry Cavill’s replacement, while Rachel Brosnahan will be Lois Lane

James Gunn, Co-CEO of DC Studios, confirmed actor David Corenswet as the new lead of his film ‘Superman: Legacy’. Gunn, writer and director of the film, confirmed through Instagram that Corenswet will be the actor who will give life to the famous journalist and undercover superhero Clark Kent in the film whose premiere is scheduled for July 11, 2025. The film will be produced by Peter Safran, co-head of the studio with Gunn, and is part of the ‘Gods and Monsters’ project with which DC Studios intends to reboot the DC Comics universe, after a series of box office flops like ‘Black Adam’ and ‘Shazam!’. The director also announced that the actress Rachel Brosnahan will be the new Lois Lanea reporter for the Daily Planet and Kent’s main fictional love interest.

Earlier this year, Safran teased that “Superman: Legacy” will show the journey the superhero created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster will take, and his attempts to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. Corenswet replaces thus a Henry Cavillthe last actor to play Superman a decade ago in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” and won the hearts of fans with his performance, while Brosnahan replaces Amy Adams in the role of Lane .

David Corenswet became known with the series ‘The Politician’, but before that he had already been part of projects such as the ‘Hollywood’ miniseries or ‘Moe and Jerryweather’, where he himself directed some comic ‘sketches’. Another of the works that have catapulted his career was the horror film ‘Pearl’ (2022), by Ti West, and his next television project will be with Natalie Portman in the Apple series ‘The Lady In The Lake’ .
