Cuban jurists celebrated central act for their Day

Havana, Jun 8 (ACN) In the presence of Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, the central act for Legal Worker’s Day was held today in this capital.

The ceremony, held at the emblematic Martí Theater, was also attended by Homero Acosta Álvarez, secretary of the National Assembly of Popular Power and the Council of State, and José Alexis Ginarte Gato, president of the National Union of Jurists of Cuba (UNJC), as well as authorities and representatives of the sector.

The performance and results of Law institutions and operators were distinguished at the ceremony, among which recognized names from the legislative, professional and academic scene in the largest of the Antilles stand out.

Special acknowledgments were received on this occasion by the Attorney General of the Republic and the People’s Court System, bodies close to celebrating half a century of their founding this year, the Provincial Board of Directors of the UNJC in Havana and the Office of the City Historian .

Ginarte Gato assured that Cuban jurists, aware of the legacy of struggles related to the exercise of law on the Island, will not fail in their commitment and will persist in their efforts for personal training and updating the regulatory framework at the level of the Socialist State of Law and Social Justice declared in the Constitution of the Republic.

The president of the UNJC recalled the vital impulse of its main architect, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, who constitutes an example for his colleagues of how to conceive revolutionary laws at the service of the humblest.

He also highlighted the active participation of jurists in the most recent legislative transformation processes in order to raise the legal culture of the population with their appropriate explanations and to ensure proper compliance with what is established.

For professionals in the field, there is no such thing as impossible, intelligence, creativity, energy and vocation for human improvement will always be present in each scenario, no matter how complicated it may be, he added.

The commemoration of every June 8 in Cuba, Day of the Legal Worker, was instituted in honor of the fact that on a similar date, but in 1865, Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz discussed his Graduate Thesis to graduate as a graduate in Civil and Canon Law from the Faculty of Law from the University of Havana.
