Copa do Brasil de Flag Football Regional Men’s Center-West: Campo Grande Predadores crowned champions

On the last 24th and 25th of June, the 2nd edition of the Copa do Brasil de Flag Football – Regional Men’s Center-West was held at the Estádio Olímpico, in Goiânia. Two home teams were present. Goiânia Saints finished in 3rd place, while Goiânia Rednecks finished in 5th place. The champion was Campo Grande Predadores.

In total, six teams participated in the Copa do Brasil de Flag Football, a modality derived from American football. The athlete Pedro Medeiros, interior defender of Goiânia Saints, talked to the EG and evaluated the tournament.

“The championship was very good, the matches were disputed. All teams wanted to win, no one playing softly, everyone thirsting for victory. For the spectators who were there, to get to know the sport, it was an exceptional championship, a flag of enormous quality”, he analyzes.

Pedro Medeiros also made a point of valuing the Saints’ feat, praising some teammates, such as Paulo and Brennic. Despite not having reached the final, the team improved its performance compared to last year and even broke a taboo by defeating Rebeldes do Cerrado, who used to always get the better of the match.

Flag Football Brazil Cup Results

In the first phase, Goiânia Saints lost to Campo Grande Predadores, by 26×20, but won against Dourados Hunters, by 40×12. Then, in the semifinal, the team did not resist Sorriso Hornets and fell by the wayside, suffering a 33×8 defeat. In the dispute for 3rd place, the team from Goiás beat Rebeldes do Cerrado by 26×7.

Goiânia Rednecks lost to Sorriso Hornets, by 34×18, and to Rebeldes do Cerrado, by 25×19. In the dispute for 5th place, the team applied a good victory over Dourados Hunters, winning by 42×12.

The final was between Predadores and Hornets, and ended in 48×47 in favor of the team from Campo Grande, current national champion and who took the regional title of the Copa do Brasil de Flag Football once again.
