The impending transfer from Lucas Hernández to Paris Saint-Germain has not been welcomed with enthusiasm by the fanatical fan base of the Parisians. Romain Mabille, the leader of PSG’s ultra groups, among others, would be strongly against the arrival of the left-footed defender. This has to do with the fact that Hernández comes from Marseille, just like arch-rival Olympique Marseille.

Jean-François Hernández played for OM in 1996 when his son Lucas was born. The family then moved to Spain, where son Hernández eventually went through the youth academy of Atlético Madrid and broke through in the first team. Still, the Parisian fans do not like the arrival of the left back annex central defender, because he was born in Marseille. In an angry letter on Instagram, Mabille said that Hernández is “not welcome” and that the supporters “would let him know.” RMC Sport writes that other groups are also against the arrival of the French international.

The dissatisfaction also has to do with how Hernández and his Bayern Munich teammates celebrated winning the Champions League in 2020. In the final, der Rekordmeister won 1-0 against PSG and during the festivities afterwards, the players of the Parisians were reportedly embarrassed by Hernández and his teammates. Reference was also made to the fact that Marseille is still the only French team with a Champions League title, although Hernández later said that he had not intended it that way.

PSG has reportedly already reached a personal agreement with Hernández, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano previously reported. Les Parisiens still have to reach a deal with Bayern, where the Frenchman is under contract until mid-2024. According to L’Équipe, the German superpower requires an amount of between 35 and 40 million euros, while Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg previously spoke of a sum of 60 million euros.

Hernández was taken over from Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2019 for no less than eighty million euros. In Bavaria, the defender worked his way up to a base customer, but his period in the Bundesliga was also characterized by injuries. While playing for Bayern, he missed 65 games and had to watch for a total of 481 days. During the previous season, on November 22, the unfortunate Hernández tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the World Cup against Australia (4-1 win). The left back was replaced in that match by his brother Theo Hernández. He is still recovering from his injury.
