The parents of middle school student A were surprised to hear what their child said recently.

It is said that a teacher made non-educational remarks, such as asking a student with a low test score to play badminton.

This parent filed a complaint through the National Sinmungo.

A few days later, the teacher came into student A’s class and said that he would not be like the parents who reported it or that he would take legal action.

Student A is complaining of anxiety and psychological damage.

Parents of both A
“The teacher took the form of asking the students directly. He threatened the children while talking about legal action, in fact… he even said, “You will become parents, but don’t be like the parents who reported it.” .)”

The teacher explained to reporters that she was sorry for what she said to a student with a low test score.

In addition, he said that the remark that he did not become like the parents who reported it was because of an unfair mind, and he said that he had requested the school to conduct a full investigation of the students to confirm the facts.

The school said that it is in the process of figuring out the facts related to this issue.

The city education office, which was in charge of the investigation, also explained that it was figuring out whether human rights were being violated.

The Jeju Island Office of Education built a human rights education center in 2021 to open systematic student human rights counseling, investigation, and relief activities in case of human rights violations in the school.

However, this case was not investigated by the Human Rights Education Center.

Furthermore, there is no specific standard for where to conduct an investigation in the event of a human rights violation at the school site.

Lee Nam-geun / Member of Jeju Self-Governing Provincial Council
“When there is a violation of student human rights within the school, there is a part that is quite difficult to deal with within the school. I think the role of the Human Rights Center, which can be unified and investigated, should be clearly defined.”

Amidst reports of human rights violations at school sites, the point that the manual should be revised to protect members is gaining persuasiveness.
