Colón and Central Draw in Controversial Night Match

The night in Arroyito did not show yesterday the Central that everyone knows when they play with their people. Colón outplayed him in the game and took the lead. But he did not lose the canaya because he took advantage of the absence of VAR (technical problems) and scored equality in a non-existent penalty that all of Colón protested. Miguel Russo’s team was encouraged to go for the victory in the final minutes, although everyone was already tired of running.

Colón played better than Central in the first half. He moved the ball better and had influential players. Abila endured them all, Alvarez tested the goal every time he could and Farías added to the sabalero’s offensive mobility. Central, on the other hand, was intermittent with the ball and its unbalancing players did not have a good night. Malcorra did not generate play, Veliz suggested more than he specified and Campaz played away from the area. Giaccone’s runs were the main offensive resource. Very little to compromise Chicco.

The best play was put together by the visit. They all touched it above and Alvarez defined the far post, just wide. In another attack with the ball from below, the definition was from Goltz and into the hands of Broun. Central’s response was with a high right foot from Campaz from outside the area and a shot from Malcorra, from the right, that missed very close to Chicco’s left corner.

Halftime found them without making differences on the scoreboard. In the midfield Meza prevailed and Russo in the complement included Infantino for O’Connor, who had been booked. The variation tried to improve possession of the ball in the place of the court where it is most disputed. But the sabaleros forwards maintained their leadership. Farías could not push a cross behind Abila, in the first ball that Colón put in the Broun area. And in the second attack the visitor’s goal came: Farías opened for Meza, who entered only from the right and defined hard before Broun left. The advantage was justified.

The game was played without VAR with the endorsement of both teams and Lamolina penalized a non-existent violation by Picco against Martínez that made all of Colón go crazy. Veliz, from twelve steps, signaled the tie with a right cross shot. The canaya was encouraged to be more aggressive in attack and the game won in vertigo, with plays in both areas. Chicco took a cross shot from Martínez and Farías lost it under the goal with a high right hand.

The changes to Colón took weight away from him in attack and he moved away from the Canaya goal. It was at that moment that Central tried to win it. Chicco took a strong shot from Martínez and then a free kick from Malcorra. Russo’s team pushed and led Colón to settle for a draw. But Central did not play a good game and could not hope for anything other than avoiding defeat.
