Christophe Galtier and Son in Police Custody for Discrimination Investigation

Christophe Galtier and his adopted son, John Valovic-Galtier, have been in police custody this Friday in Nice since 8:45 a.m., Nice prosecutor Xavier Bonhomme told AFP. A preliminary investigation was opened in mid-April for suspicion of “discrimination based on an alleged race or affiliation to a religion” after accusations against the former coach of the Aiglons. The one who is still a PSG coach is suspected of having made discriminatory, racist and Islamophobic remarks during his year at the head of OGC Nice (2021-2022) after the revelations in a letter from his former football director, Julien Fournier, addressed to his management.

“I am deeply shocked by the comments that I am given, relayed by some in an irresponsible way”, reacted Galtier in a press conference after the outbreak of the case, in mid-April. Less than 48 hours after the first revelations in the press, the headquarters of OGC Nice had been raided. It is now up to Christophe Galtier and his son to give their version of the facts.
