Campo Grande Flag Football Athlete Receives Support from City Hall for Intercontinental Championship

Flag Football athlete in Campo Grande, Milena Ajiki Lopes, got support from Campo Grande City Hall and will compete in the Intercontinental Championship, in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the United States.

According to the disclosure, the help came through Auxílio Atleta, from the Municipal Sports Foundation, Funesp. The tournament starts on the 4th and ends on the 8th of July and serves as a qualifier for the 2024 World Cup. The athlete from the Capital embarks on next Sunday (2).

Milena has had a training routine for three years and prepares in groups and individually, in the field at the Centro de Convivência do Idoso Vovó Ziza, in Jardim São Loureço.

Emphasis

Simultaneously, once a month, training takes place in the state of São Paulo, where Milena concentrates with the Brazilian team of the modality.

Champion

The athlete from the Capital has already won 1st place in the Mineiro Championship and MVP of the Campeonato Campeonato – Cobrarés; 1st Place in the Midwest Regional – Copa Brasil 2022 – Cobrarés; Rookie of the Year MVP – Copa Brasil 2022 Superfinal and 5th place overall – Cobrarés; 1st Place in the South American Flag Football 2022 – Brazilian National Team and 1st Place in the Southeast Regional I – Copa Brasil 2023 – Cobrarés.

Passion

Milena’s discovery of the modality was in 2020, when a friend invited her to go to a team training in Campo Grande. She emphasizes that the benefit provided her with a dream of traveling with her sports passion.

”I’m going with the support of the Athlete Aid, since without it it would be much more difficult for me to go, as they involve a lot of expenses. It’s a dream to be able to play like this, even more so outside the country. I hope to bring another title”.

The CEO of the Municipal Sports Foundation, Odair Serrano, highlights the importance of the benefit for the athletes.

”We have seen the large number of athletes who managed to capture this resource and ensure participation in major championships, bringing great titles to the Capital. This leverages the sport of our capital, the state and even the country”.

Athlete Assistance

The Athlete Allowance emerged through Law nº 6.754 and, in order to receive the appeal, it is necessary for the interested party to prove that he is a native or naturalized Brazilian, be at least eight years old, reside in the municipality for more than one year and be in full sports activity for participate in competitions.

The concession application must be submitted to Funesp up to 60 days before the competition. Documents proving athlete status, event calendar, list of expenses and proof of enrollment in an educational institution (for athletes under 18 years old) must be attached.
