It is a trauma that Hamburger SV is suffering for the fifth time. The direct promotion to the Bundesliga does not want to succeed despite the best starting positions.

Only to find out that Heidenheimer scored two more goals in the 15-minute added time from Regensburg and thus snatched the promotion they thought was safe from HSV.

Stuttgart was only missing a goal

On the other side is VfB Stuttgart. It didn’t slip quite as dramatically, but just as narrowly in the relegation games. With VfL Bochum beating Bayer Leverkusen and FC Schalke 04 losing at RB Leipzig, VfB had to win their game against Hoffenheim to finish 15th.

After a goalless first half, the Swabians fell behind, but were able to compensate for this quite quickly. Despite furious attempts to attack, the score remained 1-1. If Sebastian Hoeneß’ team had still managed to score, FC Augsburg would have slipped into relegation.
