Lars Stindl is moving back to Karlsruher SC, Marcus Thuram is probably moving to Milan: Borussia Mönchengladbach’s offensive will be different for the 2023/24 season. A new face is Robin Hack, whose transfer the foals officially confirmed late Monday afternoon.

Despite relegation, Hack costs a fee

Although he no longer had a valid contract due to Bielefeld’s relegation to the 3rd division, Hack will have to pay a fee. The reason: Both clubs had agreed on a transfer before the start of the relegation between Arminia and SV Wehen Wiesbaden (0:4, 1:2). The transfer fee should be in the range of 1.3 million euros. Hack had recently said goodbye to the Bielefeld fans on social media. His return to the Bundesliga in Mönchengladbach, where a new coach is taking over in Gerardo Seoane, is linked to a contract that runs until June 2027.

Roland Virkus, Borussia’s sporting director, said of the signing in the press release: “Robin Hack is a dynamic and prolific attacking player who already has a lot of first and second division experience. His personal development over the past few years has been good and we still see a lot to come Potential in him, so we’re pleased he’s chosen Borussia.”

Hack himself stressed that he was “extremely” happy about his move. “I can’t wait to play at Borussia Park and celebrate victories with the fans.”

15 direct goal contributions

With Hack, Borussia are expanding their attacking options. The former U-21 international can play in a number of positions, but will mainly play on the flank in Gladbach. He prefers to come down the left offensive side. The right-footed player has played a total of 68 competitive games for Arminia since the 2021/22 season and scored eleven goals. Previously at 1. FC Nürnberg (2019 to 2021) he had scored 14 goals in 59 competitive games. In Bielefeld’s relegation season, he scored ten goals and five assists in 33 league appearances (kicker average score 3.30).

The 1.76 meter man was trained in the youth teams at Karlsruher SC and TSG Hoffenheim before moving to Nuremberg in the summer of 2019. In 2021 he went to Bielefeld, where Hack – with the exception of three brief appearances in 2017/18 for Hoffenheim (one goal) – played his only Bundesliga season so far, but failed to score in 30 games (three assists).

After the permanent commitment of the previous loan player Julian Weigl (Benfica Lisbon, transfer fee 7.2 million euros) and the transfer of the talents Grant-Leon Ranos (19, FC Bayern) and Lukas Ullrich (19, Hertha BSC, both free of charge) Hack is the fourth summer addition to Borussia. The foals are also about to be signed by Werder’s Fabio Chiarodia.

On the departure side are Marcus Thuram (end of contract, probably Inter), Lars Stindl (Karlsruher SC, free transfer), Ramy Bensebaini (Borussia Dortmund, free transfer) and Jordan Beyer (FC Burnley, 15 million euros).
