Baseball – drinking alcohol during the game: fines for baseball players

A drink with consequences: Three South Korean baseball pros have been fined after drinking alcohol during a game at the World Baseball Classic in Japan in March. The South Koreans were eliminated from the international baseball tournament for national teams in the preliminary round, and the incidents surrounding the trio only became public afterwards.

The South Korean Baseball Association apologized for the behavior and imposed fines of between 2,000 and 3,500 euros on the three players, for which the professionals must do community work. It is still unclear when and if the trio will be called up for the national team again. Baseball is one of the most popular sports in South Korea.
