Ballon d’Or award ceremony will take place on October 30

The Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on October 30 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, announced this Friday the organizer of the award, the magazine France Football.

The successors of the Frenchman Karim Benzema in the men’s and the Spanish Alexia Putellas in the women’s category will be known at the event, as well as the winners of other categories (Kopa Trophy for the best young player of the season, Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper and the Sócrates Award for projects social).

The names of the 30 candidates for the men’s Ballon d’Or and the 20 candidates for the women’s will be announced on September 6th.

Created in 1956, the Golden Ball of the France Football it was reformulated from last year. After rewarding players for their performances throughout the year, the trophy now takes into account the calendar for the European season, which ends in June.

The selection criteria also changed. The “individual performances” and the “decisive and impressive profile of the candidates” will be the number one item, ahead of the “collective aspect and the titles won” and the “class of the player and his sense of fair play”.

The jury was also reduced to 100 voters, who are journalists from the first 100 countries in the Fifa ranking, instead of the 170 previously, and in the women’s category there will be 50 voters.
