The Xàtiva Badminton Club achieves a new medal, in the Sub-13 and Sub-17 Autonomous Masters. The athlete from the club Andrea Orquín got the bronze in the women’s doubles of the sub-17 category, who played alongside Claudia Gallego, after losing in the semifinal to Isabel Díaz and Claudia Teruel 16-21 and 14-21. The couple did not have a good match against the Murcians and lost the option to play in the final, taking bronze. Andrea also played the individual test, where she had a very good tournament, qualifying as the first group and accessing the final table. In the quarterfinals she fell to Sara Llopis by 21-15 and 21-16 and the one from CB Xàtiva was finally fifth in the tournament.
The Xàtiva club attended the Sub-13 and Sub-17 Autonomous Masters, held last Saturday in El Campello, with six athletes. In the Under-13s, Arnau Ballester and Adrià Meseguer, who continue to adapt to the change in category, competing with second-year athletes, could not get past the group phase in individual and doubles.
In the Under-17s, in the women’s singles, Sarai Ramón also competed, in addition to Andrea Orquín, who was placed in a difficult group and could not overcome the previous phase. In the men’s singles, Jesús Cimas achieved two victories and one defeat with which he could not be first in the group and access the final phase. Ximo Torres was also second and did not enter the final draw.
In men’s doubles, Badminton Xàtiva suffered a setback due to the loss of Marcos Cimas, due to knee discomfort, and the usual couple formed by the brothers Marcos and Jesús Cimas could not participate. In mixed doubles, Ximo Torres and Sarai Ramón were second in their group.
The CB Xàtiva also participated in the 2nd Preparatory Concentration for the Championship of Spain of Autonomous Selections Sub-15 and Sub-17, which took place last sunday at the Sports Technification Center (CTD) in Alicante, where Andrea Orquín, Martina Molina and Feliu Terol traveled, accompanied by the club coach Javier Alcázar. A total of 28 athletes from the Valencian Community participated in the training and was directed by the coach of the Valencian federation, FbadCV, Iván Gallardo. Technical and tactical concepts related to individual and double events were worked on, and some matches were played between the athletes.
Selected for the Spanish Championship
After this training session in Alicante, Gallardo confirmed last Monday that the Three athletes from Setabense have been selected to be part of the Valencian team in the Spanish Championship of Autonomous Sub-15 and Sub-17 Teams which will be held from June 22 to 25 in Talavera de la Reina (Toledo). Andrea Orquín will be part of the Under-17 team and Feliu Terol and Martina Molina of the Under-15 team. Along with them, the Badminton Xàtiva coach Javier Alcázar will also participate, who will be part of the technical staff, with Iván Gallardo, M.ª Jesús Almagro and Anna Feliu.

The Xàtiva Badminton Club will play from June 9 to 11 the international tournament Iberdrola Spanish Junior International U19, which will bring together 150 athletes of 16 nationalities in El Campello. Among them will be Vicent Molina and Andrea Orquín, who is debuting in a tournament of these characteristics, while Vicent repeats. Andrea will compete in singles and women’s doubles, in the latter case with Claudia Gallego, from CB Infante de Murcia, and in mixed doubles, with Vicent Molina. He will also compete in the individual test.
Besides, Last Wednesday the Closing Championship of the Xàtiva Municipal Badminton Sports School was held, in the Francisco Ballester Pavilion in Xàtiva. The athletes of the EDM Badminton Xàtiva took part and players from CB Xàtiva, CB Enguera and Colegio Cervantes de Canals participated as guests.
