Atlanta Hawks Finalize Trade Deal with Utah Jazz: John Collins for Rudy Gay and Future Draft Pick

The Atlanta Hawks are finalizing a trade deal with the Utah Jazz that will take Salt Lake City to John Collins in exchange of Rudy Gay and a future second round of draft, as the ESPN journalist has advanced Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Hawks are discharged with the operation of the more than 78 million dollars that appear in the Collins contract in the next 3 years, generating with the agreement a transfer exception for Hawks that amounts to 25.3 million dollars, an exception that it is the biggest in the NBA and that the team will have one year to execute it.

Meanwhile, Rudy Gay, 36, has only one year of contract before him, 2023-2024, with a salary that amounts to 6.48 million dollars. The forward had to validate the player option that he had over the last year of his contract for the transfer to be possible.

For his part, Collins leaves behind the only team in which he has played in the NBA, some Hawks in which he has remained 6 seasons, and in which he lost weight in the last campaign, although he is still a young player, 25 years, which can be interesting in the sports organization of the Jazz.

The transfer may not have the category of officer until July 6.
