It is the Batiston that burns, taking away the anxieties of spring, and opening up to the joy of summer. It’s San Giovanni and Migliarina is celebrating. The part linked to the creed opened with the procession through the streets, among the festively decorated balconies. And tomorrow the folklore part begins. For three days, from 18.45, both the charity fair, at the parish, and the food stands will open. Sgabei, donuts, frying. Volunteers will give their best to enrich the celebrations. Tomorrow, at 21.30, traditional rag puppet bonfire in the church square. Saturday, from 7pm, DJ set. And at 20.45 performance by the association Il Mondo di Isa, together with the Anffass boys, in collaboration with the Happy Days association. They went to consult the parish archives, he explains, to reconstruct the history of Migliarina, a poor and difficult land of farmers and workers, whose battles for a better life created a neighborhood on a human scale. The Municipality of La Spezia has signed an ordinance to allow locals a more extensive use of the outdoor dehors during the days of the party. The aim is to “promote cultural events and various entertainment to favor the atmosphere of animation in the urban context, to be combined with the local fair, which is always well attended by citizens”. Owners of public establishments have been given the right to organize musical entertainment, without dancing, as an exception to the noise limits. Naturally there will be the fair, with its parade of stalls.
Among the activities related to voluntary work, we note the initiative of the Yellow Cross Public Assistance, which will offer information on correct driving, with activities that will also involve children. The project is called Guida X Bene and belongs to Anpas, the association that brings together the Public Administrations. Both Saturday and Sunday, the 24th and 25th, the firefighters will be present in Piazza Fregoso, with the legendary Pompieropoli, the playful path for children aged 4 to 12, to “play at being a firefighter”. The traffic police will also be there, to campaign preventively. The Crescere Insieme association will offer workshops for children, with proposals for the very young of nursery age and for boys between 6 and 13 years of age. The Municipality has taken charge of the assignment of the surveillance service.
