Alcaraz defeats Shapovalov and is already in the round of 16 in Paris

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has defeated the Canadian 6-1, 6-4 and 6-2 Denis Shapovalov this Friday in the third round of Roland Garros, to authoritatively seal his pass to the round of 16 in the second Grand Slam of the season.

World’s number one, champion of four tournaments so far in 2023, entered strong and knew how to respond to the moment of the Canadian in the second set. Alcaraz, who in the round of 16 will face the Italian Lorenzo Musettiunhinged the American and managed to make the heavy ball of the Parisian night run with his right.

As in the two previous games in Paris, the Murcian wanted to mark territory from the start. Not letting the Canadian get on the bandwagon, Alcaraz broke through a long second game matchup to make it 2-0. Thus, the number one in the world went up to 6-1 despite the fact that Shapovalov ended up connecting a blow.

The second sleeve went like the first, with a long game that this time was for the Canadian. Shapovalov went up to 1-4, but ran into a wall which was not affected by that change in inertia. The Spaniard connected again with his right, putting pressure on his rival and forcing the errors that ended up giving him back control. Alcaraz scored five games in a row and raising people their seats to take the second set.

Shapovalov returned to his helpless gestures on his first date with the Murcian phenomenon, the worst possible rival today. The man from El Palmar waited smiling and active with his legs for the North American to return from the locker room, and he broke his serve again in the first exchange of the third. Shapovalov endured out of pride, but his surrender had been signed for a long time, although he shouted what he could and savored his farewell, before an Alcaraz who wants his second big, after winning the US Open last year, and take over from Rafael Nadal.
