Ahn Se-young (21, Samsung Life Insurance), a Korean women’s badminton player, lifted her 5th international tournament championship this season.

After winning a 2-0 (21-16 21-14) win over World No. 3 Tai Zi-ying (Taiwan) in the semifinals, she showed off her overwhelming skills by defeating even the top ranked Yamaguchi with an unbeaten set in the final. Even against Yamaguchi, the gap was narrowed to 8 wins and 12 losses. In the five head-to-head matches held this season, they led with 3 wins and 2 losses, including the recent 2 wins in a row.

Ahn Se-young took the lead in the fight for leadership at the beginning of the first set and continued to lead. Based on her long-term solid defense, she blocked Yamaguchi’s attacks, inducing a beomsil to finish with 21-16.

In the second set that followed, the match was very close, ending the game at 10-10 in the early stages, and then scoring consecutively after the middle to widen the score to 21-14.
