Milan –
AC Milan has finally completed the move for Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The English midfielder was signed from Chelsea.
The certainty of the transfer was announced by Milan through its official website, Saturday (1/7/2023) early morning WIB, after agreeing a total transfer value of 21.5 million euros. The details are 16 million euros as a down payment and the rest is in the form of bonuses.
Loftus-Cheek has a four-year contract with Milan with a salary of up to four million euros per year. Loftus-Cheek is already in Milan and has completed signing the contract.
“AC Milan is pleased to announce the transfer of Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea FC. The player has agreed a contract until 30 June 2027,” said an official Milan statement.
Loftus-Cheek is a product of the Chelsea academy who broke into the first team in 2014. He has had spells at Crystal Palace and Fulham on loan.
The highlight of Loftus-Cheek’s career at Chelsea was when he made 40 appearances with a score of 10 in all 2018/2019 competitions. A knee ligament injury the following season hampered the 27-year player’s career.
His performance has declined in the last two years and only scored one goal in 70 appearances. Loftus-Cheek must step aside from the tough competition in Chelsea’s midfield.
During his nine years at Chelsea, Loftus-Cheek appeared 155 times with 13 goals and contributed two Premier League titles, one Champions League, one Club World Cup, one English League Cup and one European Super Cup.
Loftus-Cheek will be joined by two of his former Blues teammates, Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is Milan’s second purchase this summer after Marco Sportiello who plays goalkeeper.
