Saturday May 27, Manon Grandjean, from the Fayl-Billot Judo-club, accompanied by her trainers, Carole Collin and Damien Petitjean, went to Saint-Dizier as part of obtaining her 1is black belt dan. Two technical events took place today: Value Unit (UV) 1 and UV2. The first consists in demonstrating to a jury the first three series of the Nage No Kata, which is a codified technical performance. There are therefore three series of three arm (te-waza), hip (koshi-waza) and leg (ashi-waza) techniques that must be performed with the kumi kata (the guard grip) on the right then to the left. A presentation that requires substantial technical know-how and therefore a lot of work. Despite a lot of pressure, Manon Grandjean was able to give a quality demonstration with her partner Maël Grosmaire, from the Chalindrey Judo-club, and, unsurprisingly, obtained this first test thanks to the work she has produced in recent months. It was then the turn of UV2. It is a demonstration of twelve techniques drawn at random: six standing (tashi-waza), four on the ground (ne waza) and two defensive movements in jujitsu. Always with her partner, Manon Grandjean was able to meet the expectations of the juries and validated this second technical test. Manon Grandjean has three UVs out of the four necessary since she obtained her UV4 a few months ago, which requires a personal commitment to judo and the future black belt obviously ticks this box thanks to her involvement as departmental sports commissioner.
A final step is to be taken for Manon Grandjean: UV3. To obtain this unit of value, it is necessary to win 100 points in competition and the young judoka already has 30. A victory by ippon is worth 10 points and 7 points by waza-ari.
The Judo-club of Fayl-Billot and its teacher Carole Collin are proud of the career of Manon Grandjean who, after having represented the club at the French championships, is on track to obtain this long-awaited rank of black belt.
